Three Hour Diet
The Three Hour Diet is not a low carb diet. In fact, it's not a "low-anything" diet apart from having a low amount of time between meals. However I do think that some of the principles behind the 3 Hour Diet can be used to enhance other diets that simply control what you eat - and not when you eat it.
The idea behind the 3 Hour Diet is you can eat anything you want as long as the portions are the right size and you're eating them at the correct time of day. The goal is that by following the Three Hour Diet you will re-program your metabolism by eating at regular intervals. This is to prevent your body from storing fat unnecessarily as if it's under some kind of threat of starvation.
It's far too common for people following weight loss diets to neglect to realise the importance their metabolism plays in the rate of weight loss. In simple terms, the higher your metabolic rate, the more calories your body will naturally require over a given time. When following a weight loss diet, it's therefore important to keep your metabolic rate high.
The Three Hour Diet prevents your metabolic rate from slowing down by providing your body with a constant supply of energy. Many people follow diets that heavily restrict caloric intake, and the result is they find weight loss gradually gets harder and harder. This is because their metabolic rate slows down accordingly. Their body thinks there isn't enough available energy to continue running normally and so it conserves energy by slowing down the rate of metabolism. This happens to the point where weight loss becomes very hard, and invariably it will just end in another failed diet attempt.
The other main contributor to the rate of metabolism is muscle mass. People that are overweight and lack muscle mass will naturally have a lower metabolic rate. For this reason, even if you're not following the Three Hour Diet, it's essential you don't forget about building muscle mass.
The 3 Hour Diet prevents this from happening by encouraging the dieter to eat roughly ever three hours. Of course, the reality is you can't eat anything what you want. No matter what the diet is, or what celebrity has used it (if you're into that kind of thing), you wont lose any weight by eating pies and cake every 3 hours, that's for sure!
The Three Hour Diet encourages dieters to eat six meals in a day, instead of just the normal three. Breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner & a final snack. The first two snacks should be no more than 100 calories each and the last snack should be no more than 50. The main meals of the day should be small to medium sized.
By following the Three Hour Diet, it is claimed that dieters can expect to lose 2lbs a week. But the main point of interest here is realising that in order to lose weight, it's important not to starve yourself. Feeling hungry is not a good thing! Eat the right foods more often and start losing more weight by keeping your metabolism sky high.
